“Education breeds confidence. Confidence breeds hope. Hope breeds peace.”
At Hope Remembered we believe that education is a powerful tool to empower a child. A family. A village.
Education helps fight child trafficking. It gives a voice to the marginalized. It improves the plight of girls. With education people are better prepared to prevent disease. Educated communities see higher wages and better economic growth.
Although there is a great desire to be educated in Guinea Bissau, the reality is there is very little access to education. The literacy rate in Guinea Bissau is 57% compared to 99% in the United States. Around 50% of children are not enrolled in any form of schooling. Only 25% of children have the luxury of continuing past sixth grade.
At Hope Remembered we want more for the people of Guinea Bissau.
We partner with missions to see schools constructed and teachers trained in some of the hardest to reach villages. Local Guineans staff these schools to educate their own people, in their own language.
Our desire is that as we serve and disciple in these villages the Gospel will spread and more churches will be planted. Because of Hope.
